What we collect
- Holiday enquiries: your dates, how many adults and children, your name, phone number, email address and message.
- Viewing requests for property for sale: your name, phone number, email address, message and preferred viewing day.
- Long-term rental enquiries: your name, phone number, email address, move-in month, budget, household and pets, and your message. Rental applications go through a credit check.
- Owners listing a property: your name, phone number, email address, the property’s area and details, your message and any photos you send.
- General enquiries: your name, phone number, email address, what you’re asking about and your message.
Why we use it
To answer your enquiry, arrange viewings and stays, process rental applications and list owners’ properties. We only send marketing if you tick the separate box for it.
Property-sales data
Lightstone (Pty) Ltd analyses property data from public records, such as the deeds registries and CIPC. For questions about how Lightstone processes that data, contact Lightstone directly.
Who we share it with
The owner of the property you’re asking about, when that’s needed for a booking or viewing; our website host and email provider. Some services we use are outside South Africa: Google (Analytics, Maps and Search Console, in the USA), Cloudflare (the Turnstile spam check on our forms, in the USA), Meta (if you follow our Facebook page) and YouTube or Vimeo (only when you play a video).
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for 24 months and then delete them. Copies of e-mails we send are kept for 14 days.
How we protect it
Enquiries are stored encrypted, and only our staff can see them.
Cookies
We use Google Analytics cookies to see how the site is used. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on or by blocking the cookies in your browser.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent. Contact us on 082 716 9243. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (inforeg.org.za).
